    book

In 2008 Al released his first book, a collection of 200 images documenting the underground and alternative subcultures surrounding the rock n roll lifestyle. Unlike others before him this book didn't focus on chart topping token rebels, instead it provided an honest and intimate document of the hidden worlds he was granted access too. Some of the bands in this book were selling out large venues and have continued to do so, some of the bands have since split up. A lot of his subjects have since broken out of the underground and entered the mainstream; Canadian band Fucked Up now headline festivals around the world and the UK's own Florence and the Machine has risen to superstardom. Some of the Tattooists and Models have become 'stars' of their own scenes and even the sport of Rollerderby has reached the massess via the silver screen.

Al won't pretend he planned it, he was simply lucky and felt it his duty to record these creatives in their element. His ability to capture the essence of these people, without losing the raw quality that contributes to so much of their appeal is probably the main reason that the press took such a liking to his work. As a result this book has become more relevent as it gets older, rather than becoming dated. Even the British library holds a copy.

The book was printed in a run of 500 and is hand numbered. Before printing it was agreed that this would be the one and only print run, to ensure this all the master plates have since been destroyed.
